India and Cuba celebrate 60 Years of Bilateral Relations

The Embassy of Cuba in India celebrates the 61st Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

On behalf of the Indian Government, Vijay Thakur Singh, Secretary (EAST) of Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the excellent ties that exist between the two peoples and governments, marked by the legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. She highlighted the visit to Cuba of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind in 2018 and and his meeting with Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, as well as the lines of credit granted by the Indian Government to Cuba and the existing collaboration in areas such as, health, biotechnology, sport, culture and emphasized in the Ayurveda sector, mentioning the recent opening of the Panchakarma in Havana.

For his part, the Cuban Ambassador, Oscar Martínez Cordovés, highlighted the achievements of Cuba over the course of these six decades, largely thanks to the solidarity support of countries such as India.

The evening was attended by Ambassadors and diplomats accredited in New Delhi, other authorities from different ministries, representatives of political parties, businessmen, press, friends of solidarity with Cuba and Cuban residents, as well as students from the Island that are taking different preparation programs in this capital.
