India-Cuba Dialogue held in the state of Kerala

The Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in India, Abel Aballe Despaigne, presided over the Cuba-India Dialogue 2024, organized by the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) and the Cuba Business Bureau in Kerala. From the Indian side, K G Anil Kumar, IETO Trade Commissioner for Cuba Business in Kerala; Wali Kashvi, IETO Vice President; as well as representatives from the tourism, manufacturing and food industries were present.

The IETO representatives highlighted the promotional actions carried out, particularly by IETO, in the last two years to strengthen bilateral ties. In this regard, they highlighted the recent visits made to Cuba by delegations of Indian businessmen and, in particular, their participation in the Havana Fair, FIHAV 2023. They also pointed out the sectors in which they have worked together and the existing opportunities in tourism, biotechnology, renewable energies, the food industry and different manufacturing industries. Finally, they extended an invitation to participate in a delegation being formed by IETO, through its Cuba-Bureau in Kerala, to travel to Cuba in March and, among other actions, participate in the International Fair Informatics 2024.

The diplomat Abel Aballe made a presentation on business opportunities with Cuba, particularly in the tourism sector. He highlighted the development of this industry in Cuba and the potential for the promotion and marketing of Cuba in the Indian market. He also highlighted Cuba's participation in the OTM Travel Fair for the first time with a delegation of several travel agencies and hotel groups operating in Cuba, as well as the actions taken to establish alliances with Indian tour operators, advertising agencies and travel agencies for the marketing of Cuba as a destination. He extended an invitation to those present to participate in the main tourism fair of our country, FitCuba 2024, which will take place from May 1 to 4.
