Addis Ababa, December 26, 2023. The Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, offered an exclusive interview to the Prensa Latina Agency about the annual work of the diplomatic mission in order to strengthen bilateral relations between Cuba and Ethiopia and enhance economic relations.
During the interview, the ambassador highlighted the positive progress in bilateral relations that has arisen this year between the Cuban and Ethiopian governments and referred to the different high-level meetings that took place during the year.
Of these meetings, the ambassador highlighted the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in Havana on the occasion of the G77 Summit and China last September, the meetings between the Cuban President and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at the BRICS Summit held in Johannesburg in August and at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) with headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He also made special reference to the visit made by Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa to Addis Ababa and the meetings held with the country's high authorities.
The Cuban diplomat also stressed that the reopening of the Ethiopian Embassy in Havana was an important step for the strengthening of people-to-people relations and denoted the will of the Ethiopian government to preserve existing relations of brotherhood.
Ambassador Lefebre took the opportunity to congratulate the people and government of Cuba in the framework of the upcoming celebrations for the 65th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
