Interview granted by the Ambassador of Cuba to "Ethiopian Herald", on the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G-77 + China

Addis Ababa, September 5, 2023. The Cuban ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, gave an interview to the main Ethiopian English-language newspaper "Ethiopian Herald", about the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G-77 + China to be held in Havana on September 15 and 16.

During the meeting, the diplomat stressed that the Group of 77 is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries of the United Nations, where decisions are made and joint strategies are drawn up in order to promote the collective economic interests of the countries that integrate it, as well as improve their joint negotiation capacity on main international economic issues. To a question from the interviewer, the Cuban ambassador added that this year Cuba assumed the presidency of the Group in the midst of a convulsive international situation, with economies devastated after the years of pandemic, and the fundamental objective of the Havana summit will be to agree positions and find solutions that help countries face the post-pandemic future.  Using science, innovation and technology, "finding points of convergence that help us all to boost solidarity and international cooperation will be the basic task of this Summit" he added.

The ambassador also referred in his words to the presence at the Summit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, H.E. Demeken Mekonnen, who will lead the delegation that will attend the meeting.
