José Martí Association in Lebanon reaffirms solidarity with Cuba

Motivated by brotherhood and the defense of just causes, the José Martí Latin American Arab Solidarity Association in Lebanon today reaffirmed its support for Cuba in the struggle for the end of the blockade.

During a meeting of its board of directors and the head of the Cuban mission here, Jorge León Cruz, the Lebanese friends highlighted the triumph at the United Nations in the demand for the cessation of the unilateral policy of the US government imposed on the island for more than six decades.

After receiving an update on the Antillean reality, those present condemned the inhuman, genocidal and extraterritorial nature of the blockade which limits the development of the people and places obstacles to their commercial links with other nations.

In the exchange, Mohamad Hachicho, secretary general of the People's Democratic Party, emphasized the socialist and internationalist vocation of the Caribbean revolution and its support for the struggle of the Arab peoples.

Hachicho emphasized that the Association is the voice of Cuba in the Middle East and highlighted the support to the Palestinian cause in the face of the attacks of Israel, the main ally of the United States in the region.

International Law expert Hassan Jouni defended Cuban humanism and denounced the attempts to distort the island's reality in multilateral forums under pressure from Washington.

For his part, the former prisoner for 17 years in Israeli jails, Anwar Yassine, recalled Cuba's struggle for the return of the Five Heroes and the support of the Association when it was the Lebanese Committee in defense of the freedom of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez.

The also member of the Central Committee of the Lebanese Communist Party praised the unity of the Cuban revolution and evoked the solidarity colloquiums held in Holguin in which he participated in several occasions to express support in favor of the return of The Five.

Khadije Husseini, trade unionist and leader of the Lebanese Women's Rights League, said that the defense of Cuba is the duty of any revolutionary in the world, "because its example belongs to humanity".

On the occasion, the Cuban diplomat thanked the displays of brotherhood and patented the position of the revolution to continue the construction of its socialist, internationalist and peace model.

Founded on May 16, 2017 during the visit of the hero Rene Gonzalez to Beirut, the Association strengthens the ties of friendship between the Arab and Latin American peoples under the Marti's ideology of "Homeland is humanity".
