Vancouver, January 28th, 2020.- The Canadian Cuban Friendship Association (Vancouver) commemorated the birth of Cuban National Hero at this annual event held this year on January 26.
Those in attendance heard a short biography of the life of Jose Marti and then a report about Anti-Imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism that took place in Havana from November 1-3. A report on the Calixto Garcia Brigade held in the east of Cuba in December 2019 was also presented.
Musical entertainment was provided by the group “Aymurai” with some Chilean Andean compositions as well as some famous Cuban songs as well.
A report on developments in Latin America as a whole, including Cuba was presented as well as a special report by a visiting Honduran teacher, a guest of CoDev Canada, who spoke of her country’s loss of Cuban medical professionals and other challenges facing her country.
Poetry readings were shared and these supporters of Cuba partook of a now traditional Jose Marti birthday cake.
