Cuba confirms the effectiveness of Abdullah's vaccine against the Corona virus
Kuwait, Junio 22 (Al-Jarida Newspaper): As research laboratories around the world continue to race against time to develop more vaccines against the Corona virus, Cuba, in a precedent in Latin America, entered the streak of this marathon, and the Cuban government pharmaceutical group “Biocupapharma” announced that “Abdullah” (Abdala), the experimental vaccine that developed by one of its laboratories to combat the Corona virus, it has shown that it is more than 92 percent effective.
Days after it announced that a vaccine that it had developed, called “Soberana 2”, became effective at 62%, after taking the second dose out of the 3 doses it contained, exceeding the 50% required by the World Health Organization, confirmed “Biocupapharma”. "Abadala, the vaccine developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, shows an efficacy of 92.28 percent after 3 doses."
This experimental vaccine has reached the final stage of clinical trials, and it is expected that in late June or early next July, it will obtain an official license from the Cuban authorities to use it.
The name of the vaccine is derived from the play Abdullah, which was written by the famous Cuban poet Jose Marti, who died in 1895 at the age of 42, and who is known for his inclination towards the Arabs and glorifying them in many of his poems, to the point where he made most of the heroes of his poems among them, as the hero of the poetic play he composed in his youth, and made of A young Egyptian man from Nubia is its hero, and his name is Abdullah.
If these two vaccines obtain licenses, as expected, Cuba will become the first country in Latin America to develop and produce vaccines, despite the difficulties its scientists face due to the American embargo imposed on it since 1962, which was tightened under its former president, Donald Trump.
