Very few African nations have a national action plan for the human rights of their citizens. Liberia has just joined this select group and invited the diplomatic corps to its launch.
The Cuban Ambassador, Dr. Indira López Arguelles, who was present, emphasized the comprehensive nature of human rights, the importance of working to promote them as a whole, and highlighted the serious impact of the U.S. blockade on Cuba's full enjoyment of these rights. She also reiterated Cuba's willingness to contribute to African development with the experience it has accumulated.
The country's leading business figures, the Ministers of Justice and Labor, and representatives from the entire diplomatic corps in Monrovia were present at the launch and discussion of the action plan.
