The Lebanese Communist Party and representatives of various Lebanese political forces reaffirm their solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela

An event in solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela, entitled “From Lebanon to Latin America: Together against US-Zionist aggression,” was held at the headquarters of the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP).

The event was presided over by Hanna Gharib, secretary general of the LCP, Jorge P. León Cruz, Cuban ambassador, and José Biomorgi, Venezuelan ambassador, who were the main speakers at the event.

In his opening remarks, the party leader gave a comprehensive overview of the current situation in Lebanon and the challenges facing the country in the face of continued violations and attacks on its national sovereignty. He also condemned the US aggression against Venezuela, the murders committed, and the kidnapping of the president and his wife. He denounced the strengthening of the US blockade against Cuba and the brutal measures imposed by the US to adopt tariff measures against countries that trade oil with the Caribbean island.

The Venezuelan ambassador offered a comprehensive explanation of the failure of the US government's strategy to bring about regime change in Venezuela, as the Venezuelan people remain vibrant and fully organized under their constitutional order and current laws. He also reaffirmed Venezuela's sovereign right to maintain diplomatic, political, and economic relations with countries around the world based on the principles of self-determination of peoples and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. He also highlighted the historic and supportive nature of the cooperative and solidarity-based relations between Venezuela and Cuba.

The Cuban diplomat emphasized that the heroic Cuban and Venezuelan combatants fell not only defending the sovereignty of Venezuela, the president, and his wife, but also defending human dignity, peace, and the honor of Cuba, Venezuela, and all countries in the world that do not bow to imperial threats.  He pointed out that Cuba has defeated all terrorist actions and aggressions orchestrated by the CIA against the Cuban people, who have always maintained unity and firm and decisive support for the Revolution. He called on brothers, friends, and international solidarity to make common cause and close ranks in defense of Cuba's sovereignty and thanked all friends around the world who stand in solidarity with the Cuban people.

In addition, Maurice Nohra, president of the Lebanese-Cuban Friendship Association, and an executive of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, along with other activists present, spoke in support of and solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela.

The symposium was attended by representatives of various political forces, including the National Action Committee, representatives of the FDLP and PFLP, the leader of the Popular Democratic Party, and other political and social figures, as well as the president of the National Federation of Trade Unions and Employees of Lebanon (FENASOL), representatives of trade unions and youth organizations, and numerous communist militants, who supported the statements made by the ambassadors of Cuba and Venezuela and the secretary general of the Lebanese Communist Party.

The emotional event highlighted the importance of solidarity with Venezuela, Cuba, and the peoples of Latin America in confronting the common imperialist enemy and its plans and threats against our Arab peoples and the peoples of Latin America.

At the conclusion of the event, a revolutionary salute was extended to Cuba and Venezuela in their confrontation with the imperialist enemy, and the lifting of the blockade against the Caribbean island and its people was demanded, while the new US measures against Cuba were condemned.
