The Lebanese Communist Party condemns the kidnapping of the Venezuelan president
Speaking to Lebanese Arab radio and press, Omar Deep, member of the Political Bureau of the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP) and Head of International Relations of the LCP, condemned the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in an interview with Radio Voice of the People today.
He affirmed the party's solidarity with Venezuela in the face of direct military aggression and the Trump administration's attempt to strip it of its political decision-making power, its oil wealth, and violate its sovereignty and independence.
He pointed to the intimidation and harassment tactics employed by the US administration, its flagrant disregard for international law, the sovereignty of nations, and the United Nations Charter, and its attempt to impose its hegemony on the world through force and intimidation.
He also stressed the importance of international solidarity and of promoting initiatives to pressure the US administration to immediately release Venezuelan President Maduro.
