The Lebanese Communist Party stands in solidarity with Cuba
Cuban Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz received the Secretary General of the Lebanese Communist Party, Hanna Ghareeb, and held a positive meeting in which the LCP's solidarity with Cuba and its willingness to continue strengthening bilateral ties with the Communist Party of Cuba were made clear.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Maurice Nohra, member of the LCP political leadership and President of the Lebanon-Cuba Friendship Association, current national and regional issues were discussed and Cuba's principled position in support of the Lebanese people's rights to independence and sovereignty was reaffirmed in the face of repeated Israeli attacks, in clear violation of international law, with the support of the United States.
The meeting also denounced the widespread deployment of US military forces in the Caribbean, which constitutes a provocation and attempt to attack Venezuela in order to seize its oil and natural resources, in violation of international norms. The extrajudicial killings of boatmen and fishermen were also condemned, all of which has had a very negative impact on the fishing and tourism sectors in that region.
The occasion proved propitious for confirming that the US regime was completely isolated in the UN General Assembly, when Cuba won a resounding diplomatic victory by obtaining the vote of the overwhelming majority.
The occasion was propitious for confirming that the US regime was completely isolated in the UN General Assembly, when Cuba won a resounding diplomatic victory by obtaining the vote of the vast majority of the international community in favor of the resolution demanding an end to the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the US against Cuba and the pronouncements for the removal of the Caribbean island from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.
