Lebanese Parliament expresses support and solidarity with Cuba

The Secretary General of the Lebanese Parliament, Adnan Daher, received Ambassador Jorge León Cruz, who handed over the Declarations of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Ministry of Relations of the Republic of Cuba expressing serious concern over the escalation of violence between Israel and Palestine, which is the consequence of 75 years of permanent violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and Israel's aggressive and expansionist policy.

The Cuban diplomat ratified Cuba's position in favour of a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the conflict, which inexorably requires the exercise of the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to build their own State, an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, within the pre-1967 borders, with its capital in East Jerusalem and with guarantees for the return of the refugees.

Both sides reviewed the excellent level of inter-parliamentary relations and the establishment of the respective Parliamentary Friendship Groups which will contribute to the consolidation of ties between the respective legislative bodies.

The Secretary General of the Parliament thanked the Cuban head of mission for the update he gave him on the Cuban reality and the achievements obtained in its economic and social development plans, despite the tightening of the blockade imposed by the US against Cuba for more than 60 years and the arbitrary inclusion in the spurious list of countries that sponsor terrorism.

The head of mission also took the opportunity to reiterate his gratitude for the Lebanese solidarity in support of the Cuban people's struggle against the blockade.

During the cordial meeting, the interest and willingness to continue deepening inter-parliamentary ties was noted, and they advocated continuing to promote exchanges during international parliamentary forums and events.
