Lebanese President receives Ambassador of Cuba

Beirut, December 22, 2021. The President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Aoun, received the Cuban ambassador to Beirut, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, in an audience marking the end of the mission of the diplomat from the Greater Antilles.

Both addressed the situation of the Antillean nation and its economic recovery, after the opening of the country last November 15.

Pellicer pointed out that Cuba is now in better conditions to go ahead with its economic updating program aimed at developing its internal potentialities and investments from abroad.

He also commented on the difficult situation the Caribbean nation has gone through in the last two years, due to the tightening of the U.S. blockade and the measures adopted because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The diplomat explained to President Aoun that thanks to the national pharmaceutical industry, by developing five vaccine candidates against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, Cuba was once again able to open up to the world with guarantees for the health of its citizens.

In another part of the dialogue, Pellicer thanked the Head of State for the support of the authorities in the performance of his duties and reaffirmed Cuba's willingness to continue developing and strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two nations, while wishing for a future of peace and prosperity for the Lebanese people.

For his part, the President of the country of the Cedars thanked the Ambassador for his good wishes for Lebanon and wished him success in his new responsibilities, while wishing for the prosperity of Cuba and its people. (Embacuba Líbano)
