Lebanese press reports on condemnation of new US measures against Cuba

The Lebanese press has reported on condemnation of new measures taken by the US government to intensify the blockade against Cuba.

The Pan-Arab Al Mayadeen Network broadcast, among others, the condemnations made in Lebanon by the Cuban diplomatic mission and by the vice president of the Palestinian National Council and leader of the FDLP.

Cuba condemns new genocidal measures by the US from Lebanon

The Cuban Embassy in Lebanon denounced the new measures taken by the US to tighten the blockade and halt fuel supplies to the island.

The Cuban Embassy in Lebanon expressed its strongest condemnation of the new measures adopted by the US government to intensify the economic, commercial, and financial blockade through actions aimed at preventing the supply of fuel and sanctioning third countries with legitimate commercial relations with the island.

According to the diplomatic representation, these decisions confirm the criminal and genocidal blockade, now reinforced with threats and extraterritorial measures aimed at preventing free trade with Havana.

The White House's actions seek to deprive the country of a vital source for transportation, food processing, production, and the provision of basic services such as medical care and water supply, the statement said, which was also amplified on the Foreign Ministry's website.

Accusations against Washington

According to the Cuban mission in Beirut, the US government constitutes a threat to peace, security, and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean by applying practices of political and economic coercion, imposing arbitrary tariffs, and violating the rules of free trade and international law.

The US measures are part of a policy that has been in place for more than six decades against the Cuban people, who, according to the statement, have been subjected to the longest and cruelest economic blockade ever imposed on a nation, which has been repeatedly condemned by the United Nations and every multilateral forum that has examined the issue.

Appeal to the international community

The diplomatic headquarters reiterated its call to reject unilateral coercive measures contrary to the United Nations Charter, considering that they violate the sovereignty of States and seriously affect the well-being of peoples.

Palestinian leader denounces US imperialist policy against Cuba

The leader of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine denounced US measures against Cuba and reaffirmed the Palestinian people's unwavering support for the Cuban revolution.

The vice president of the Palestinian National Council and deputy secretary general of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), Ali Faisal, condemned the recent escalation of the US economic blockade against Cuba, expressing the unwavering support of the Palestinian people for the Cuban revolution and its leaders.

Faisal described Washington's new measures, including the declaration of a state of emergency, as an “escalation and expansion of the economic blockade” based on the false pretext that Cuba poses a threat to US national security.

He pointed out that the real danger to global security is “the same US imperialist policy” that plunges peoples into “hunger, siege, wars, bloodshed, and destruction.”

The Palestinian leader linked the attack on Cuba to other global crises, mentioning “Israel's war of extermination against our people in Gaza and the West Bank and the ongoing attacks on Lebanon and Syria” and the “blatant US aggression against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

He asserted that these actions have led to a “return to the era of pirates and bandits,” driven by greed for resources such as oil.

Faisal expressed his confidence that these measures “will not break the will of the Cuban people or their leaders,” but will strengthen their determination to “confront and thwart the US plan.”

He stressed that the world is witnessing the emergence of a “multipolar world order” as a result of new international balances and the steadfastness of countries such as Cuba and other Latin American nations that oppose U.S. hegemony.

The leader reiterated the full support of the Palestinian people “in all its components” for the Cuban people, President Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the Cuban Revolution.

He acknowledged that Cuba “has provided and continues to provide all kinds of support” to the Palestinian people in international forums, in their struggle to stop the war of genocide and achieve “freedom, independence, and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
