Lebanese Workers’ and Employees’ Unions Condemn U.S. Aggression Against Cuba

The National Federation of Lebanese Workers’ and Employees’ Unions (FENASOL) issued a strong statement of solidarity in which it vigorously condemns the United States’ ongoing imperialist aggression against Cuba, its working class, and its political leadership.

The Lebanese labor federation categorically rejected the media campaign of incitement led by Washington against Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, based on false and fabricated accusations that lack any legal or moral legitimacy.

The unions issued a call to the global labor and progressive movement to organize joint actions aimed at ending the U.S. blockade, condemning punitive measures, and halting attempts to destabilize the Cuban revolutionary government.

Statement issued by the National Federation of Trade Unions and Workers of Lebanon:

Statement of Solidarity and Condemnation

The National Federation of Trade Unions and Workers of Lebanon (FENASOL) strongly condemns the ongoing imperialist aggression by the United States against the Republic of Cuba, its people, its working class, and its militant leadership. It also condemns the campaign of political and media incitement led by the U.S. government against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, General Raúl Castro Ruz, through false and fabricated accusations lacking any evidence.

This new U.S. escalation constitutes a continuation of the policies of blockade, blackmail, sanctions, and interference in the affairs of free peoples. It is a desperate attempt to undermine the resilience of the Cuban people and their revolutionary and socialist experience, which for decades has served as a model in the defense of national sovereignty, social justice, and the rights of workers and the poor.

The Federation affirms that Cuba has the legitimate right, under the Charter of the United Nations and international law, to defend its sovereignty, its airspace, and the security of its people against the repeated provocations and attacks it has suffered at the hands of U.S.-backed terrorist groups, which have repeatedly launched attacks from U.S. territory with known organization and protection.

We, the National Federation of Trade Unions and Workers of Lebanon, believe that these aggressive accusations are part of the intensified economic, financial, and energy blockade imposed on the Cuban people. This inhumane blockade seeks to subjugate Cuba and break its people through a policy of collective punishment and starvation, in flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions.

We in Lebanon, who experience daily the effects of the ongoing Zionist aggression against our land, our people, our workers, and our institutions—an aggression supported politically, militarily, and financially by U.S. imperialism—fully understand the significance of aggression, the blockade, and the attack on national sovereignty and the right of peoples to self-determination. We also know the high price that free peoples pay in defending their right to resistance, independence, and national dignity.

In this shared struggle, we recall with deep appreciation and loyalty the unwavering historical stance of the Cuban people and their leadership alongside Lebanon and Palestine, their continued support for our peoples’ struggle against occupation and aggression, and their firm defense of Palestinian rights and Lebanon’s right to sovereignty and liberation. We will never forget this sincere international solidarity that Cuba has expressed for decades in various international, political, and trade union forums. This makes our stance alongside them today a matter of reciprocity of principles and a clear commitment to the causes of freedom, justice, and national liberation.

In declaring our full and unwavering solidarity with revolutionary Cuba, its people, its working class, and its national and militant leadership, we reaffirm our support for the right of peoples to resist hegemony and imperialism and to defend their independence, dignity, and political and social choices.

We call upon the Arab and international labor movement, and all labor, progressive, and freedom-loving forces around the world, to raise their voices in a forceful condemnation of the U.S. blockade and aggression against Cuba, and to work for an end to all unilateral coercive measures imposed against it, and to confront any attempt to undermine its sovereignty, its leadership, and its people.

Long live Cuba!

Long live the peoples’ struggle against imperialism and exploitation!

Long live international solidarity among peoples in struggle!
