In Lebanon, Friendship and Solidarity Associations, together with the Cuban community, support the dignity and resistance of the Cuban people and reject US threats against Cuba

At the Cuban Embassy in Lebanon, the Cuban community, the leaders of the Palestinian Graduates League, the Lebanese and Palestinian Friendship Associations, and the José Martí Arab-Latin American Solidarity Association expressed their decisive support for the defense of Cuba's sovereignty and independence.

The event, held on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, the 173rd anniversary of the birth of José Martí, and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz, was presided over by the ambassadors of Cuba, Jorge Porfirio León Cruz, and Venezuela, José Gregorio Biomorgi.

The fraternal meeting began with a minute of silence to honor and glorify the more than 100 people who died in the criminal terrorist attack by the United States against Venezuela, including 24 Venezuelan and 32 Cuban combatants who "were performing security tasks as representatives of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, at the request of similar agencies in Venezuela,“ and who ”fell in direct confrontations or as a result of the bombing that targeted military installations in Venezuela."

The following speakers took the floor at the event: José G. Biomorgi, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; Noha Ibrahim Mehdi, Cuban resident; Ali Al Khatib, President of the League of Palestinian Graduates of Cuban Universities and Institutions; Maurice Nohra, President of the Lebanese-Cuban Friendship Association; Imad Matari, director of the Palestinian-Cuban Friendship Association; Wafica Mehdi, director of the José Martí Arab-Latin American Solidarity Association.

The speeches paid tribute to the martyrs who fell during the criminal US aggression, demanded the release of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, ratified the traditional strengthening of brotherly relations between Venezuela and Cuba, denounced the policy of blockade against the Cuban people, reaffirmed solidarity with Cubans and Venezuelans, and expressed full support and solidarity with the Cuban people in their struggle for the independence and sovereignty of their homeland.

In his closing remarks, the Cuban ambassador emphasized that the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, led by Fidel Castro Ruz, put an end to Yankee neocolonialism and linked the imperialist failures to overthrow the Cuban government. He considered that there was sufficient evidence to show that Trump's objective is to try to hide the internal crisis and decline of the empire, for which he is willing to act like Hitler, participating directly

Finally, he thanked everyone present for their overwhelming displays of solidarity and condemnation of the genocidal, aggressive, and supremacist course of the US regime, and took the opportunity to call on brothers, friends, and international solidarity to make common cause and close ranks in defense of Cuba's sovereignty, which reaffirms its full willingness to be soldiers of resistance in the face of any aggression until victory forever.

Present were members and officials of the Cuban Embassy and the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, members of the Cuban community residing in Lebanon, representatives and friends of friendship and solidarity groups, and Lebanese and Palestinian graduates from Cuba.
