Lebanon is present at the VI International Conference for the Balance of the World convened by the José Martí Project of International Solidarity and whose VI edition is being held from January 28 to 31 at the Palacio de Convenciones of the Cuban capital.
Speaking on a panel on solidarity with Palestine, the activist, member of the Women's International Democratic Federation and director of the pan-Arab multi-platform Al Mayadeen in Spanish, Wafica Mehdi, considered the presence of a racist, colonialist and expansionist “Israel” as the most important factor of instability in the region, under the complicity of the United States.
He also emphasized the need for resistence as a cornerstone to thwart the projects to control land and wealth in the Middle East. He described the presence of a racist, colonialist and expansionist “Israel” as the most important factor of instability in the region, under the complicity of the United States.
He highlighted the efforts made by the Palestinian Resistance, together with the support fronts in Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Iran and Syria, in a war that unmasked the faces of many who sold themselves for years as paradigms of freedom, democracy and human rights.
Wafica affirmed that the determined return of citizens to their destroyed homes in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon is a lesson of determination in the history of the peoples' struggle.
This VI International Conference for the Balance of the World coincides with the commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the fall in combat of the Cuban National Hero José Martí, with the presence of about 900 delegates from 93 countries and has among its objectives to promote social justice, intercultural dialogue and cooperation among peoples.
