Lebanon reaffirms support for Cuba in its struggle against the U.S. blockade
The vice president of the Shiite Islamic Supreme Council, Ali Al-Khatib, today reaffirmed Lebanon's support for Cuba in its struggle for the lifting of the US blockade imposed for more than six decades.
Receiving at the council headquarters the head of the diplomatic mission of the island in Lebanon, Jorge Leon Cruz, the religious authority praised the constancy of the Cuban people, the preservation of unity, attachment to their land, wealth and progress in various fields in the face of the unjust siege that besieges it.
In the dialogue on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, Al-Khatib pointed out Cuba's positions in support of the just causes of the peoples, among which the Palestinian struggle stands out.
For his part, the Antillean diplomat conveyed his wishes for peace, tranquility and access to their resources as the Lebanese people deserve, while ratifying solidarity with the Arab cause.
In this sense, Leon expressed his commitment to the Palestinian people to obtain all the rights to return to their homes and build a sovereign and independent state.
During the meeting, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Caribbean nation in Beirut also thanked the Lebanese authorities and citizens for their annual support to the draft resolution that Cuba submits to the UN General Assembly every year.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to do everything possible to strengthen the friendly relationship between Cuba and Lebanon.
