From Lebanon they demand the exclusion of Cuba from the State Department's spurious unilateral and illegitimate list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

Lebanon expresses its solidarity with the call from Cuba's Casa de las Americas to writers, artists, cultural promoters, academics, activists and social fighters, members of non-governmental organizations and people sensitive to the daily suffering of the Cuban people, to support the open letter from writer and journalist Ignacio Ramonet, demanding that President Biden exclude Cuba from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

In Lebanon, Lebanese and Palestinian solidarity joins the international demand that the US government exclude Cuba from this spurious list.

The Presidents and directors of the Lebanon-Cuba Friendship Association, the “José Martí” Latin American Solidarity Association, the President of the Union of Palestinian Doctors and Pharmacists in Lebanon, the President of the Palestinian National Committee to Combat Addiction and the Representative of the Cuban-Palestinian Friendship Association in Lebanon have sent their signatures of support to Cuba's Casa de las Americas.

The US continues to ignore the clear position of the international community and the provisions of successive resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, which condemn and demand the lifting of the blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba, which was reinforced by the Trump administration and maintained by Biden.

The escalation of the blockade measures, to a qualitatively more harmful and inhumane dimension, is aggravated by the permanence of Cuba on the State Department's unilateral and illegitimate list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism. This is a politically motivated and dishonest measure, but it has an undeniable economic connotation.

And the U.S. regulatory agencies rigorously apply the coercive measures that make up the complex web of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

The presence of Cuba on that List, where it should never have been, is widely rejected at the international level. It causes serious damage to the Cuban people and has generated, among other negative consequences, the closing of contracts; loss of relations with banking entities that usually worked with Cuba; indebtedness; delays in the sending and receiving of funds, food, medicines, fuel, materials, spare parts; among other difficulties, with incalculable costs and consequences for the Cuban people and economy.
