From Lebanon, a Yes for Cuba against the US blockade

From Lebanon, a Yes for Cuba against the US blockade

Palestinian graduates in Cuba and friends of solidarity expressed today in Lebanon a Yes for the Caribbean revolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.

At the Al Baraem Care Association center in the Chatila Refugee Camp, those present welcomed the head of the diplomatic mission of the island here, Jorge León, and reaffirmed the accompaniment of the Cuban people in the struggle to eliminate the unilateral policy of the US administration.

Ali El-Khatib, president of the League of Palestinian Graduates of Cuban Universities and Institutes in Lebanon, said that since its foundation in the late 80's, the group has defended the example and achievements of the Antillean nation.

For the electrical engineer trained at the Marta Abreu University of Las Villas, the main motive is to help Cuba against imperialist maneuvers and to express solidarity against the blockade that hinders the development of the Caribbean people.

In an atmosphere of fraternity, the leader of the league emphasized that the Cuban Revolution constitutes the most important strategic ally in the cause of the Palestinians for their independence and sovereignty against the Israeli entity.

Hassan Barake, a graduate in Physical Culture and Sports Sciences from the Manuel Fajardo University of Havana, demanded an end to the blockade, considering it cruel, inhumane and extraterritorial, which affects the wellbeing of the Cuban family.

Having benefited from scholarships to study on Antillean soil, Barake repudiated the hostile policy and double standards of the U.S. in pressuring a country that defends just causes and in that sense, he emphasized the historical relations with the Palestinian resistance.

A few days after her return from Cuba after completing her medical studies, the young Dalal Ali El-Khatib expressed her rejection of the blockade and asked the international community to vote at the United Nations for the cessation of the White House policy.

Speaking at the event, the Cuban diplomat expressed the will of the revolution to confront imperialist domination, aware of the need to work with friends in the world to defend U.S. aggressiveness.

Leon denounced the disinformation campaigns and the media manipulation of reality on the island with the aim of sowing a climate of insecurity among the population.

In thanking the expressions of support, the head of the Cuban embassy in Beirut emphasized the island's commitment to world peace and condemned Israel's systematic war crimes against the Palestinian population.

On the occasion, several interventions signified the bonds of friendship and the legacy of the leaders Fidel Castro of Cuba and Yasser Arafat of Palestine.

Children from the Al Baraem Care Association in the Palestinian refugee camp in Chatila enlivened the day of solidarity with dances, singing and painting.

Tomorrow, Cuba will present the draft resolution "Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America", a text similar to the one adopted categorically in that multilateral forum in the last three decades.
