Lebanon's Independent Nasserist Movement praises Cuba's internationalist solidarity and supports the Cuban people in the fight against the blockade
The head of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Lebanon, Jorge León Cruz, received the Secretary General of the Independent Nasserist Movement (Mourabitun), Brigadier General Mustafa Hamdan, who was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary, Fouad Hassan, and the head of International Relations and responsible for Palestine, Muhammad Koleilat.
The leader of the Nasserist organisation thanked for the reception at the Embassy, expressed his cordial welcome to the Cuban diplomat and gave a detailed explanation of the origin of the oldest of the Lebanese organisations that embraced the ideas of the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdul Nasser. He also addressed current issues in Lebanon and the regional scenario and advocated the strengthening of the continuity of ties with the diplomatic representation.
The Cuban diplomat gave an update on Cuba and its fraternal relations with the Arab world, as well as a detailed explanation of the serious damage caused to the Cuban people by the intensification of the US blockade, which was accentuated in the context of the pandemic when more than 240 additional measures were applied during the mandate of former President Trump and which are maintained under the current administration of President Biden.
He also denounced the decision of the US government to exclude Cuba from participating in the IX Summit of the Americas held in Los Angeles from 8 to 10 June, which was widely rejected by a large number of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
During the meeting, expressions of admiration for Cuba's internationalist solidarity and support for the Cuban people's struggle against the blockade were expressed, and the will to maintain the continuity of bilateral ties was confirmed.
