In a message broadcast by the national radio station La Voz del Pueblo, of the Lebanese Communist Party, the Cuban representative reaffirmed the commitment to the legacy of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, a reference and paradigm of internationalist solidarity.

In the context of the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, León ratified to the listeners the decision to defend the socialist project, aware of the need to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood with free peoples.

During his speech, the Caribbean diplomat denounced the reinforcement of the sanctions policies imposed by Washington with the intention of asphyxiating and hindering the development of the country's economy.

He affirmed that the confidence, firmness and unity of the Cuban people in defending Cuba's political, economic and social project have been the main bulwark for building a dignified and sovereign country.

Commenting on international ties, he endorsed the commitment to peace, justice and the right to full independence, development and security of all countries.

In this regard, he reiterated that Cuba firmly defends unity within diversity in the Americas and thanked the peoples and governments for their courageous, dignified and supportive position in rejecting the U.S. blockade.

León gave an overview of the island's ties with Arab countries and reaffirmed that Cuba and Lebanon advocate the strengthening of their 63 years of diplomatic relations and work for the consolidation of excellent political, diplomatic, economic and trade ties, as well as the strengthening of coordination and mutual support in international forums and events.

He also expressed his strong support for the legitimate Lebanese demands for the implementation and enforcement of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a complete cessation of hostilities and Israel's withdrawal from the south of the nation.

At the same time, he condemned the continued Israeli occupation and violations of human rights and systematic war crimes against the Palestinian people.

Likewise, he ratified that Cuba has always advocated and will maintain its unrestricted support for the Palestinian cause and for the two-State solution as the only alternative and for the right of the Palestinian people to build their own State within the pre-1967 borders and with its capital in East Jerusalem, as well as its support for the demand for the release of political prisoners and the right of return of Palestinian refugees.

It also ratified that the Cuban democratic socialist state fully protects human rights and dignity against capitalist forms of domination and advocates not to submit to the imperialist hegemony that seeks to destroy the Cuban Revolution with destabilizing policies, programs and plans under the cover of an apparent legitimacy.

The Cuban diplomat affirmed that we Cubans are convinced that in spite of the difficult conditions and aggressions, Cuba will maintain as essential goals to guarantee effective equality in the enjoyment and exercise of rights and in the fulfillment of the duties enshrined in the Constitution and in the laws; to promote sustainable development that ensures individual and collective prosperity and to obtain greater levels of equity and social justice; to preserve and multiply the achievements of the Revolution and to guarantee the full dignity of the people and their integral development.

The road will continue to be difficult, but Cuba struggles, resists and lives; its people will overcome and develop. We have never and will never give in to aggressions, blackmail and threats.

Cuba's strength lies in the inspiration of Martí and Fidel with the power of truth, dignity and the defense of just ideas for a better world.

Finally, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, he was pleased to express, on behalf of the Cuban government and people, our sincere congratulations to the Lebanese government and people, as well as to all the friends of Cuba who in Lebanon always highlight the important role played by the Cuban Revolution as an example of international resistance in raising awareness of the need to work together for a better world.
