Lebanon’s Popular Democratic Party Reaffirms Full Support for Cuba

The Popular Democratic Party of Lebanon reaffirmed its support for the Cuban people on Tuesday in a statement issued by the political organization.

“We, in the Popular Democratic Party of Lebanon, declare our full support for the Cuban Revolution, which represents a model opposed to the brutal capitalist system,” the statement read.

The Lebanese organization also condemned “the terrorism and aggression of U.S. imperialism,” arguing that these “know no bounds, despite their internal economic, social, and political crises, and despite the decline of their global hegemony.”

The statement also highlighted that the “Cuban Revolution has always sent its best sons and daughters—doctors, nurses, engineers, and teachers—to impoverished countries, including the poorest regions within impoverished nations.”

“Because the healthcare system in Cuba’s socialist system is not monopolized by pharmaceutical cartels, as is the case under capitalism, Cuba has been a world leader in this field,” the statement said.

It also added that it was “the Cuban Revolution that eradicated the Ebola virus in Africa, saving the lives of millions of people from both Ebola and the deadly virus of brutal capitalism.”

Similarly, it cited Cuba’s positive example “in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic” and developing vaccines, which were distributed “free of charge and offered to countries around the world.”

Lebanon’s Popular Democratic Party condemns charges against Raúl Castro.

The Lebanese political organization condemned “the U.S. political and judicial decision against Raúl Castro, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, comrade of Fidel, Che, and Camilo, and symbol of the resilience of the revolution and its people.”

“If the United States is considering repeating the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, it must not forget that it was the heroic soldiers of the Cuban Revolution who confronted the invading U.S. forces at the Venezuelan presidential palace, sacrificing dozens of martyrs in defense of the Bolivarian Revolution,” he recalled.

He also mentioned the defense of the Palestinian and Arab cause, as well as that of the peoples of the region.

“Supporting the Cuban Revolution today, threatened by U.S. aggression, is above all a way of repaying what Cuba has offered our peoples and the movements of resistance, liberation, and revolution.”

“It is also an act of self-defense, for there is but one enemy, from Washington to Tel Aviv, whose goal is occupation, extermination, destruction, murder, domination, plunder, subjugation, and humiliation,” the statement noted.

The letter concludes by stating that “we, the Popular Democratic Party of Lebanon, clearly declare our international solidarity with revolutionary Cuba and our support in the face of imperialist aggression, so that it may continue to serve as a model of socialism, freedom, solidarity, and human relations among peoples.”

Several organizations and countries have joined the international condemnation of the Trump administration’s hostile actions and military threats against Cuba.
