The Cuban Ambassador to Monrovia, Dr. Indira López Argüelles, received representatives from various Liberian artistic associations—specifically the Film Makers Union, the Writers Association, and the Musicians Union.
The intellectuals discussed elements of Liberian culture and the traditional aspects shared by most Caribbean people and Africa, and expressed a desire to learn more about Cuban affairs.
For her part, Ambassador López Argüelles briefed them on the situation of collective punishment that the Cuban people are enduring, as well as the role of culture as an essential element of resilience and a pillar of Cuban unity.
After viewing audiovisual material on art in Cuba, the Ambassador invited them to closely follow the United Nations proceedings on October 27 and 28, when a vote will once again be held on the resolution against the U.S. blockade of Cuba.
