Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti received the Cuban Ambassador to Monrovia, Dr. Indira López Argüelles, at the headquarters of the African nation's Foreign Ministry.
Among the various topics discussed, the Cuban Ambassador briefed the Foreign Minister on the energy blockade and its negative impact on the lives and health of the Cuban people, noting that it constitutes a massive violation of human rights and a form of collective punishment against the population. This blockade, instituted by the Trump administration, reinforces the economic and financial embargo—a matter on which Cuba has submitted a detailed report to the United Nations. The Cuban Ambassador requested the support of the Liberian government and people for the upcoming vote on October 28.
For her part, Foreign Minister Beysolow expressed appreciation for the scholarships offered by the Cuban government to two Liberian students and reiterated Liberia's commitment to strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
