The diplomatic corps present in Monrovia visited the Liberian Legislative Assembly, holding discussions with the heads of the parliamentary committees and the Speaker, the Honorable Richard Kung.
The diplomats were briefed on the main bills under debate, the Assembly's recent agreements regarding the nation's economic development, and the priorities identified by the members of Congress for relations with other nations.
The Cuban Ambassador to Liberia, Dr. Indira López Arguelles, expressed her gratitude for the support of the Liberian people and government for the Cuban people's struggle against the U.S. blockade. She noted Cuba's willingness to contribute to the development of the African nation by offering to hire Cuban professionals, particularly doctors and professors, and invited the members of Congress to two major events taking place in Havana: the Convention Against Racism and the People's Meeting Against External Debt.
