The Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo, visited the city of Linz, capital of the region of Upper Austria, where she was received by the Mayor, Mr. Klaus Luger.
Both authorities exchanged information on the political-economic situation of Cuba and Linz respectively and evaluated the possibilities of strengthening the existing economic and cultural ties.
Opportunities of exchanges in the field of IT and digitalization were identified at the Johannes Keppler University in Linz, as it has made significant progress in this area. Besides, the possibility to execute Cuban cultural performances in events which take place in this city, were assessed.
Ambassador Sánchez signed the Book of Honor of the city.
During the visit, the Ambassador and other officials of the Diplomatic Mission also participated in the annual meeting hosted by the Linz Mayor´s Office to the accredited Diplomatic and Consular Corps. Likewise, the Cuban representatives held meetings with the high authorities of Upper Austria: Governor Thomas Stelzer and Viktor Sigl, President of the Parliament.
Later the representatives of the Cuban Embassy held meetings with the Board of Directors of ÖKG, the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association in Upper Austria and with the Cubans residents in this region.
Linz is an important industrial city with high cultural potential. It has been designated by UNESCO City of Media Arts.
