Mayor of Sankt Pölten receives delegation from the Embassy of Cuba in Austria

 An extensive program of work in the capital of the region of Lower Austria made a representation of the Embassy of Cuba in Austria, headed by the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Marieta García Jordán. The Cuban delegation was received at the City Hall by the Mayor, Matthias Stadler, who is also President of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) in Lower Austria and one of the Vice Presidents of that party at the Federal level; by the Federal Parliamentarian, Robert Laimer and by other members of the City Council.
In the cordial meeting held both parties reiterated the interest to strengthen the traditional relations of friendship and support. On the Cuban side, extensive information was provided on the process of updating the economic and social model and, in particular, on the development of the general elections held on March 11 in Cuba. The status of Cuba-United States relations was also reported; topics of great interest to the Austrian side.
Mayor Stadler, meanwhile, announced that the city of St. Pölten aspires to be declared a "European Cultural City" in 2024 and in that sense is organizing local and international cultural actions, within which it could contemplate the participation of Cuba.
Within the program of the visit, the representation of the Embassy also visited the headquarters of the "European Ballet" of St. Pölten, in its Director, Michael Fichtenbaum offered two scholarships for Cuban students for a year, as a collaborative project, supported by the city authorities and the Subsidiary of the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association "ÖKG" in the Lower Austria Region.
The team of the Cuban Embassy also participated in the Assembly of the regional ÖKG and held a meeting with the Cuban community living in Lower Austria.
