This afternoon, a meeting of the Caribbean Consular Corps accredited in this city was held at the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto.
During the meeting, a broad agenda was completed which included, among the main topics, the follow-up of the agreements reached in the meetings with the Minister of Labor and the Executive Director of the Skilled Trades Ontario agency; the planning of future joint actions; and the welcome to the new representatives of St. Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, Grenada and Guyana.
As part of the activity, there was a tour of the Cuban Consulate headquarters and a special discussion on the current situation of our country. The Consul General of Cuba, Jorge Yanier Castellanos informed the participants about the difficult economic situation our country is going through, mainly as a consequence of the genocidal blockade of the US and the increase of its sanctions, the expressions of dissatisfaction with the situation of the electric service and the distribution of food in some localities of the country during the weekend, as well as the disinformation campaign, including the interference of the US government against our country.
The representatives of the Caribbean nations ratified their rejection of the U.S. blockade, reiterated their gratitude for Cuba's solidarity and their unconditional support to the Cuban government and people.
The exchange was also conducive to the realization of concrete proposals that will allow the consular corps to support our country from Toronto.
