Meeting of Cuban Residents in Europe (ECRE) Berlin-2022, attended by a delegation of Cuban residents in Ireland, today condemned the blockade of the United States against the Island and demanded an end to this policy and all aggressions.

Berlin, Germany, November 20, 2022. The delegation of Cubans residing in Ireland and as part of it, three young Irish people, descendants of its members, participated in the closing of the XVI Regional Meeting of Cubans Resident in Europe, held this morning, in Berlin.

In the final declaration of the three-day forum, which culminated in an act of solidarity at the emblematic "Brandenburg Gate", the participants ratified their commitment to the frontal fight against the siege imposed by Washington for more than 60 years, a policy which they described as illegal and criminal.

We join the urgent appeal to President Joseph Biden "Let Cuba rebuild itself", they stressed in reference to a campaign launched in early October in the United States.

They also demanded the immediate removal of Cuba from Washington's unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism, and recalled that the Caribbean Island "is a nation of peace and has been a victim and never a perpetrator of actions of this type."

The final text of the Regional Meeting of Cubans Resident in Europe also includes the demand for the return of the territory occupied by a US naval base in the eastern province of Guantanamo.

In the same way, it rejects the intensification of media and communication aggression, the attempts to discredit the solidarity work of the largest of the Antilles and the non-compliance by the US government with the migratory agreements signed by the parties.

In a general sense, the delegates to the event - which resumed its face-to-face format after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic - reiterated their repudiation of any aggressive measure or act of interference against the sovereignty of the homeland where they were born.

Debated yesterday, in the declaration the participants in the meeting showed their willingness to actively contribute to the socioeconomic development of Cuba and recognized the support provided to their country by organizations and citizens all over the planet.

"Our love for Cuba does not set conditions or have an expiration date," they sentenced.
