The Communist Party of Ireland stands with the Communist Party, the government and the people of Cuba as they continue to endure the devastating consequences of the ongoing illegal US blockade.

Due to the current difficulty in sourcing energy, the Cuban government has been forced to temporarily shut down much of its industry and its services to its people.

Nearly 600 parliamentarians from 73 countries call on the US to take Cuba off the “state-sponsor of terrorism” list

The US state-sponsor of terrorism designation, removed in 2015 following a thorough evaluation by the Obama Administration, was reapplied to Cuba on the very last days of the Trump presidency in 2021. Countries on the US list face extreme sanctions which hinder access to medicines and foods. The three other countries with the designation by the US government are Syria, since 1979, Iran, since 1984 and North Korea, since 2017. President Joe Biden has not removed the designation, despite promising a return to the Obama-era policy.

Cuban Ambassador receives new spokesperson for International Affairs and Defense of the Sinn Fein Party.

Dublin, October 11, 2023. The Cuban ambassador to Ireland, Bernardo Guanche Hernández, received at the diplomatic headquarters of Cuba, the deputy for the Sinn Féin Party, Matt Carthy, new spokesperson for International Affairs and Defense of the Sinn Féin Party.

At the meeting, in which the National Coordinator of Sinn Féin, Declan Kearney, also participated, different issues of common interest were addressed, both in the respective national spheres and in the international arena.

IRISH PARLIAMENTARIANS CONDEMN TERRORIST ATTACK AGAINST THE CUBA EMBASSY IN WASHINGTON AND CALL ON THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO EXCLUDE CUBA FROM THE LIST OF COUNTRIES SPONSORING TERRORISM.

DUBLIN, OCTOBER 2, 2023. The Cuba-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group condemned on September 29 the attack perpetrated against the Cuban Embassy in the United States, located in Washington, D.C. The statement recalls that last Sunday, September 24, at night, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Diplomatic Mission building, without anyone being injured.

Convenes the Solidarity Forum with Cuba in Ireland to donate medical supplies to Cuba.

In a commendable concerted effort, the friends of the Irish Cuba Solidarity Forum are working today on the preparation of a container with medical supplies that will be sent to the Cuban health system, in particular, to the hospital "Amejeiras Brothers". The action is part of a national campaign in Ireland in support of the Cuban people and against the blockade.

Solidaries with Cuba from Belfast salute the 62nd anniversary of the creation of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution.

Belfast, Northern Ireland, September 24, 2022. Members of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Belfast held an emotional meeting this Saturday to greet the 62nd anniversary of the creation of the CDRs. The Cuban resident in this city, Yasmari Perdomo, explained to the participants the importance of the Cuban organization and the role it has played in the defense of the Revolution.

During the activity, the attendees also greeted the referendum that will take place in Cuba this Sunday, September 25, condemned the blockade and demanded its lifting, among other issues addressed.

Dublin, July 1, 2022. The award-winning documentary by Irish film directors Ollie Aslin and Gary Lennon, “The Castro Spies”, premiered last Friday at the renowned Irish Film Institute, thus beginning a cycle of its exhibition at public. Based on the lives of the Five Cuban Heroes, the film addresses the reasons that led the Cuban Government to penetrate the terrorist organizations that from the United States had acted against the Cuban Revolution in the 1990s, dismantling the falsehood with solid and visible arguments of the qualification of "spies" to the protagonists.
