As part of his working program in Vienna, the Member of the Parliament Luis Morlote Rivas, Vice-president of the Committee on Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and Environment of the National Assembly of People´s Power and First Vice President of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC by its Spanish initials) was received by Dr. Thomas Drozda, Chairman of the Commission on Culture of the Austrian Federal Parliament of this legislative body and member of the fraction of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ by its German initials) in the venue of the Austrian Federal Parliament.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Austria, H.E Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and other officials from the Embassy of Cuba in Vienna participated in the encounter.
The Cuban Member of the Parliament was highly satisfied with the possibility of exchanging information and proposals for joint actions between the Commissions on Culture of both Parliaments. In this regard, he ratified the invitation extended to Mr. Thomas Drozda to visit Cuba and accomplish a working program in coordination with other cultural institutions and authorities.
Morlote also offered extensive information on the current situation in Cuba, particularly regarding the process of popular consultation about the Constitutional Reform which is an issue of major interest for the Austrian Member of the Parliament. Besides, information related to the system of artistic education in Cuba and on the wide network of cultural institutions and events of the country was also provided.
