The Member of the Parliament Luis Morlote Rivas, Vice-president of the Committee on Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and Environment of the National Assembly of People´s Power and First Vice President of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC by its Spanish initials) was received by Mr. Andreas Schieder, Chairman of the Commission of Foreign Affairs of his legislative body at the venue of the Austrian Federal Parliament in the margins of his participation in the 11th Euro - Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Austria, H.E Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and other officials from the Embassy of Cuba in Vienna participated in the encounter.
The Cuban Member of the Parliament is also President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with the EU Member States thanked the traditional bonds of friendship existing between the Parliaments of both countries, particularly with the legislators of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ by its German initials) being Mr. Schieder its Chief Executive. They remembered the visit performed by the Austrian Member of the Parliament to Cuba in 2016 as part of the official delegation that accompanied the former Federal President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer.
Morlote also offered extensive information on the Cuban present situation, mainly regarding the process of popular consultation about the Constitutional Reform that is currently developed. This was an issue of major interest for Mr. Schieder who asked various questions and praised the democratic scope of the process.
