As part of the working program executed in Vienna by the Member of the Parliament Luis Morlote Rivas, Vice-president of the Committee on Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and Environment of the National Assembly of People´s Power and First Vice President of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC by its Spanish initials), he held a meeting with the group of members of the Social Democratic Party (SPÖ by its German initials) in the venue of the Austrian Federal Parliament.
The Cuban Member of the Parliament was received by the Austrian Member of the Parliament, Robert Leimer, the International Secretary of the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB by its German initials), Marcus Strohmaier and by the member of the leadership of that political force in Saint Pölten city, Mr. Harald Ludwig. The hosts are active members of “ÖKG”, the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association in the state of Lower Austria. This organization has carried out a solidary work with the Caribbean nation for almost 50 years.
Both parties exchanged information and proposals to continue moving forward in the relations between both Parliaments, particularly, between Saint Pölten city and Cuba which execute cultural projects regarding ballet and music.
Comrade Morlote Rivas who is in Vienna attending the 11th Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (as he is Member of PARLATINO) thanked the Austrian friends for their continuous support to Cuba in all struggles, mainly, the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States. Furthermore, he offered extensive information on the Cuban present situation, particularly regarding the process of popular consultation about the Constitutional Reform that is currently developed.
