We, the students from the Centre for Spanish and Latin American Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India, condemn the US intervention in Cuba since Cuban revolution,1959 through several oppressive measures such as economic blockade, Monroe doctrine and now recently its antigovernment protest organized against Cuba since last year. We express our solidarity to Cuba for its determination to keep following the path of socialism and its continuous efforts to provide a healthy and safe environment to the people of Cuba in terms of education, health and other services. We share our deep support and solidarity through this poem written in Urdu by a revolutionary, anti-capitalist poet Habib Jalib against the military dictatorship of Ayub khan in Pakistan.
Main bhi khaif nahi takhta e dar se
Main bhi mansoor hoon kah do aghyar se
Kyon darate ho zindaan ki diwar se
Zulm ki bat ko jahal ki rat ko
Main nhi manta main nhi janta
I am not afraid of execution
Tell the enemies that I am Mansoor
Don't scare me from your jails
The word of oppression and the night of ignorance
I refuse to acknowledge, I refuse to accept (English translation)
