Mr. Darcy Boyce, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for Energy, Mr. Jehu Wiltshire, received in his office Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernandez, to exchange about possible Cuban cooperation energy with the Caribbean region and in particular on the newly created Caribbean Center for Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE). At the request of the diplomatic, Minister Boyce gave him a comprehensive explanation of the recently created centre in Barbados and the possibilities opened for the Caribbean region to face with their own initiatives the necessary change in the energy matrix, stimulating the progressive introduction of sources renewable energy in ways that support sustainable economic growth. The Ambassador appreciated the information and said that his Government positively assessed the request made by CARICOM Secretariat with a view to establishing a cooperation mechanism whereby Cuba to provide technical assistance in this important project.
