The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia reiterates to the Cuban Ambassador the willingness to continue strengthening bilateral relations

Zagreb, 23 October, 2019. The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, His Excellency Mr. Gordan Grlić Radman, received today the Ambassador of Cuba to that European country, His Excellency Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, at the headquarters of the Ministry.

In the meeting, which took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, both authorities reiterated their mutual willingness to continue strengthening the historical bilateral ties existing between the two countries, whose bilateral relations have now reached 28 years.  The bonds established in the political-diplomatic sectors, sports, tourism and the existing economic-commercial and cultural potentialities, among others, were positively valued.

The Ambassador expressed the gratitude of the Cuban people and government for the support received from Croatia in the rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.  Likewise, the constructive position of this country within the framework of Cuba´s ties with the European Union and in particular the process of negotiations and provisional implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement between Cuba and the European Union, whose pro-tempore Presidency will be assumed by Croatia during the first semester of 2020.

The Minister acknowledged and valued the work executed by Ambassador Fernández Palacios at the conclusion of his four-year diplomatic mission to the Republic of Croatia.
