AUSTRIA, 19 June 2017. In the margins of the working visit to Austria, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla met with H.E. Mr. Michael Linhart Secretary-General of the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration, and Foreign Affairs and acting Minister.
Both incumbents revised the topics of the bilateral agenda and stressed the willingness to strengthen even more the existing relations between both countries that last year celebrated the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic bonds. They agreed on the importance of the process initiated for the setting up of a binding international instrument in the framework of United Nations that bans Nuclear Weapons with a view to its complete elimination.
The meeting proceeded in a climate of cordiality and it was suitable for identifying opportunities to broaden cooperation in mutual interest sectors, mainly the economic-commercial area.
The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his appreciation for the Austrian favorable vote of the Cuban resolution in favour of the lifting of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
The Cuban delegation was also consisted of H.E. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, Ambassador of Cuba to Austria, Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, Director of the Division of Europe and Canada of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Bárbara Elena Montalvo the Chief of the Minister´s Cabinet.
