Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, arrived in Vienna to participate in the Symposium: Science and Diplomacy of the CTBTO

 

 Vienna, May 24, 2018. The Minister of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya arrived in Vienna on the afternoon of May 24, heading the Cuban delegation that will participate in the high-level segment of the Symposium: "Science and diplomacy", organized by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBTO).

The Minister was invited to participate as a panelist in the Symposium, by the Executive Secretary of the CTBTO, Dr. Lassina Zerbo, during his visit to Cuba on the occasion of the Second Science and Technology Convention held in March of this year in Havana. The Symposium began its session on Monday, May 21 and will extend its work until June 1, 2018, at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna.

Its main objective is to show the participants the contribution of the CTBTO to international peace and security; and encourage cooperation in the field of research and innovation of science and technology for the control of nuclear tests.

The delegation participating in the Symposium will also be composed by the Ambassador of Cuba in Austria, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, together with other representatives of CITMA and the Permanent Mission of Cuba.
