The Minister of Youth and Sports, the Honorable Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Her Excellency Dr. Indira López Arguelles, at the Ministry headquarters. The diplomat explained to the young minister the historical relationship between Cuba and Liberia, from which several Liberians have benefited, becoming technicians and specialists in the field. Dr. López Arguelles, in turn, highlighted the significant challenges facing sports in Cuba as a consequence of the intensified US blockade and harassment of the Cuban people.
The Minister noted the progress of the sports sector, its expectations, and the challenges of working with young people, given that Liberia has one of the lowest average ages in the Americas and likely in the world.
Topics such as the fight against drugs, preventive work, education, and the introduction of technology into daily life, as well as into sports, were addressed during the meeting, highlighting the possibilities and future aspects of joint bilateral work.
