Winnipeg, May 14, 2026. – The 31st Convention of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), the most important labor event in Canada, approved an emergency resolution titled "Solidarity with Cuba."
The text, backed by more than 2,000 delegates present, representing approximately 3 million Canadian workers, calls for immediate action to increase humanitarian and solidarity aid to the Cuban people; for diplomatic efforts to end the U.S. blockade on oil and other measures affecting Cuba; and for reaffirming Canada's commitment to sovereignty, non-intervention, and the self-determination of peoples.
In addition, the CLC commits to carrying out solidarity campaigns with Cuban workers and the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (CTC); supporting solidarity actions; and continuing to promote relations with their Cuban trade union counterparts.
This resolution adds to the many expressions of solidarity from various Canadian organizations with the Cuban people in the face of the ongoing intensification of the blockade and threats by the U.S. government.
