Message to repudiate the hostile policy of the United State of America against Cuba and the condemnation of the Helms-Burton act.
The Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association, as well as the peace loving Namibian people in general, cannot remain silent in the face of injustice. Hence we condemn and denounce the latest measures taken by the United States government to intensify the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
We consider that the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act constitutes a flagrant violation of Cuban sovereignty and another example of the extraterritorial nature of the US blockade.
These new measures, together with other policies put into practice for almost 60 years, constitute the main obstacle to the development of Cuba. These are a violation of the human rights of the Cuban people and of International Law, as well as of the Charter of the United Nations.
The blockade affects the sovereign relations of the Island with third countries, harms the natural development of cooperation, commercial, economic and financial ties and limits the mutual benefits derived from them. This US policy not only harms our Cuban brothers, but also harms the rest of the countries and peoples of the world, including Namibia.
The Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association calls for the end of the Blockade and the interference of the United States in the affairs of Cuba. Likewise, we demand the return of the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo Naval Base, as well as respect for the self-determination and human rights of the people of Cuba, to International Law and the precepts of the United Nations.
Our organization joins the governments, members of civil society, personalities and institutions, as well as other members of the international community, who daily criticize the interventionist and aggressive actions of the Donald Trump administration against Cuba.
Dear Comrades:
Cuba is not the only target of this aggressive escalation of US imperialism, other governments and progressive movements in Latin America also suffer the Yankee offensive.
With concern we have observed how justice has been used for political purposes in Brazil. The former president of that country, Luis Ignacio Lula Da Silva, has been condemned without evidence, to prevent his participation in the last presidential elections, where he would have won. From Namibia, we condemn the politicization of justice and demand the immediate release of Comrade Lula.
The sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has also been subject to a resurgence of imperialist aggressions in recent months. The United States leads an international campaign that seeks the overthrow of the Venezuelan constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, by using any method at his disposal. It is alarming how all the ethical and moral principles are violated, they go to the lie, to the transgression of sovereignty, to the defamatory media campaigns, to terrorism and to the promotion of violent methods to subvert the constitutional order in Venezuela.
The Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association, in line with the position assumed by our government, recognizes President Nicolás Maduro as a legitimate head of state, calls for an immediate end to the aggressions against that country and reiterates our support for the Venezuelan people in their fight against imperialism.
Dear Comrades:
In these times of imperialist aggressions, unity and solidarity among the peoples of the third world, the continuity of the ideas of our founding fathers, Fidel Castro and Sam Nujoma, and honouring our heroes and martyrs is the path we must take to the defence of our independence and sovereignty. That will be the vision that our Association will take to the next VI Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, to be held in Nigeria.
Namibia have been and will be with Cuba in the fight against the injustices reinforced by the United State of America`s government.
In Solidarity we are one!!!!!!!
¡Viva Namibia!
¡Viva Cuba!
¡ALUTA CONTINUA! VICTORIA ACERTA!
