The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and the National Assembly Parliamentary Friendship group held an engagement with the Namibia–Cuba Friendship Association, led by Honorable Helmuth Kangulohi Angula (former member of Parliament), accompanied by other members of the Steering Committee.
The consultations unpacked a proposed humanitarian drive in support of Cuba owing to the prevailing economic situation it is facing. The initiative aims to mobilise resources and strengthen collaboration across key sectors, including government, business, youth, religious institutions, and the media, to respond to the ongoing economic challenges facing the Cuban people.
The discussions equally rallied for a common understanding in support of the people of Cuba as they have been our all weather friends dating back from the days of fighting colonial oppression to key developmental initiatives post independence. Moreover, this underscores Namibia’s enduring historical ties with Cuba and seeks to build a unified national response rooted in solidarity.
