On February 4th, 2021, the Government of Namibia ratified its proposal to nominate the “Henry Reeve” Cuban International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics, for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
In a statement from the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, President Hage Geingob's administration stated: "This nomination is rooted in recognition of the extensive work of the Cuban brigades in exporting Cuba's medical talent for the benefit of all communities around the world.
NBC Radio in Namibia broadcasts an interview with Ambassador Sergio Vigoa de la Uz on the US government's aggressive policy toward Cuba.
Ambassador Sergio Vigoa de la Uz paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of International Relations and Trade, H.E. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, in which they agreed to develop economic collaboration at the level of political and diplomatic relations.
During the meeting, the diplomat expressed his gratitude for Namibia's continued support of the Cuban people in the regional and international arena, its rejection of the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba, and its inclusion on the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.
The member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz arrived in Namibia to attend the inauguration ceremony of new President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, an event that coincided with the celebrations for the country's 35th anniversary of independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations, which took place on March 21, 1990.

Eight Cuban doctors arrived in Namibia late last year, increasing the total number of Cuban medical specialists in the country to 98.
Their arrival is aimed at alleviating the shortage of medical staff in Namibia, particularly in underserved areas.
