Cuban Embassy in Canada celebrated National Day in homage to the 66th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 172nd Anniversary of the birth of Cuba's National Hero, José Martí.
The event was attended by Carolyn Knobel, Director for Central America, Cuba and the Dominican Republic of Global Affairs Canada; Gabriel Ste-Marie, co-chair of the Cuba-Canada Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group; as well as other Canadian government authorities, parliamentarians, accredited diplomats, businessmen, intellectuals, Cuban residents and friends of Cuba.
As part of the event, the Chargé d'Affaires, Dany Tur de la Concepción, highlighted the historical ties that unite Cuba and Canada. He also condemned the negative impact of the hostile policy of the US government towards the Cuban people and expressed his gratitude for the sustained support of the Canadian government for the resolution presented at the United Nations against the blockade.
Within the framework of this event, the Embassy of Cuba presented Congressman Gabriel Ste Marie with a bat with his signature, made by Cuba friend Bill Ryan, as an expression of gratitude for the work of the Canada-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group promoting the strengthening of relations between our two nations; also for the solidarity shown on such important issues for the Cuban people, such as denouncing economic blockade.
