Niagara Falls illuminated for the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Canada.

As part of the celebrations for the 80th Anniversary of the bilateral relations between Cuba and Canada, on March 18, Niagara Falls was dressed in the colors of the Cuban flag, while the notes of our national anthem were sung by members of solidarity with Cuba, the Association of Cubans Juan Gualberto Gomez and the collective of the Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto. In front of this natural wonder, located on the border between the United States and Canada, the 80 years of uninterrupted relations between the two countries were celebrated, the will to continue promoting and diversifying bilateral ties was ratified and a well-deserved tribute was paid to the great Cuban poet José María Heredia in front of his tarja.

Dave Thomas, president of the Canadian-Cuban Friendship Association (CCFA) of Niagara, on behalf of himself and the members of this beloved organization, conveyed a strong message of solidarity with Cuba and his satisfaction at celebrating this important anniversary in the company of members of the Cuban community and the Consulate. In addition, he strongly condemned the U.S. government sanctions against the people of Cuba and stressed that despite representing a not very large organization and the love of each and every one of its members for our people is infinite.

For his part, the Consul General of Cuba, Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, thanked the Niagara Illumination Committee for their support to our embassy to make this emotional moment happen. He also took the opportunity to condemn the genocidal blockade imposed by the U.S. government against Cuba and stressed that the friendship forged between the two peoples will continue to strengthen as it has done for decades. All of this thanks to the large number of Canadians who, like the members of the CCFA Niagara, love and show daily their solidarity with the Cuban people, to the tireless work of Cuban residents who love their homeland and to the Cuban people who recognize and are grateful for so much love and solidarity.
