Note on Cuba's electro-energy situation

As reported, Cuba is currently affected by a complex electro-energy situation, aggravated since last Friday, October 18, which has its main cause in the intensification of the U.S. economic war and financial and energy persecution, which hinders the import of fuels and other resources necessary for that industry.

Since the very beginning of the contingency of the national electro-energy system, intensive work has been carried out for its restoration, which is progressing gradually. At this moment, the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric power plant, the largest in the country, is already operating. Havana is already gradually receiving energy, and electricity coverage will depend on the generation capacity, while micro-systems in the rest of the country are being strengthened. Priority is being given to service to hospitals and water supply sources. Other services, such as gas, are gradually being re-established.

The country's 10 international airports are operating normally. All systems, facilities and services of these airports have their own electricity generation and will continue with their normal operations.

Non-essential administrative activities and education services in the country has been suspended until Wednesday 23 due to the work undertaken for the reestablishment of the national electric power system and for the recovery period following the passage of hurricane Oscar through eastern Cuba.
