Omara Portuondo performed for the first time in India.

Legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo, the Buena Vista Social Club Diva, performed for the first time in India. Portuondo, 92 years old, delighted the Indian audience with her latest album "Vida", on the venue of Windmills Whitefield, in the city of Bangalore.

The official Abel Aballe Despaigne, in his condition of Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in India, welcomed Omara on behalf of the diplomatic Mission, while highlighting the impact of her visit in the development of cultural ties between Cuba and India.

Portuondo is one of the greatest exponents of traditional music in Cuba and her musical career is a symbol of Cuban culture and an inspiration for new generations of artists around the world.
