Organization for the care of disabled people in Liberia visits Cuban diplomatic headquarters.

Monrovia, August 13, 2018-, On the morning of Monday the executive director of the non-governmental organization dedicated to the care of the disabled Inclusive Development Initiative (IDI), Mr. Alonzo Dorian Dixon II, was received by the Chargé d´Affaires of the Embassy of Cuba in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera. The Liberian delegation was also composed of Stephanie Fatu Kamara, County coordinator of Montserrado and Kelvin Kortu Kollie, researcher. On the Cuban side, the Second Secretary, Carmen Maury Toledo, also participated.

Dorian Dixon exposed the genesis, vision and mission of IDI. He mentioned his main thematic axes, on which focus his work projections, namely: health, education, socio-economic well-being, equal access to work options and social participation.

For his part, the Cuban diplomat made reference to the programs implemented by the Cuban revolutionary government after January 1st 1959 to achieve the gradual and full integration of disabled people in Cuba, basically through three main organizations: ANSOC, ACLIFIM and ANCI. He referred to the challenges that the Antillean State must assume to support the work of these organizations and especially to be able to guarantee the fundamental needs of this sector of society, in the midst of the ironclad economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States. It implies important restrictions to access better technologies and resources for this portion of the population.

The meeting served as an incentive to strengthen Cuban diplomatic work in various scenarios of Liberian civil society. It was also an environment conducive to show the progress of Cuba in the noble endeavor to meet the Martian maxim "of a country with all and for the good of all." (CubaMinrex / EmbaCuba Liberia)
