Pakistani health minister receives Cuban ambassador.

Islamabad, October 4, 2023 _Pakistan's Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Nadeem Jan, received today the Cuban Ambassador Zéner Caro, in a meeting that both parties agreed to describe as friendly and fruitful.

In agreeing on the need to increase bilateral cooperation, Dr. Nadeem praised Cuba's performance in the area of public health and commented on his government's most recent initiatives, such as the future establishment of a pharmaceutical park that will improve the country's capacity to be self-sufficient in most basic medicines.

Likewise, the Pakistani minister referred to the interest in receiving Cuba's support in the training of specialized medical and paramedical personnel, as well as in the exchange of experiences in the fight against epidemics and diseases.

Recalling the assistance offered by Cuba after the Kashmir earthquake in 2005 and the training of more than nine hundred young Pakistanis as doctors in the universities of his country, the Cuban ambassador highlighted the common challenges faced by both nations in the area of public health and reiterated the island's willingness to continue supporting Pakistan whatever the circumstances and conditions.
